*Rachel Reese started as a consultant in the DEGW New York office in summer 2010. When an opportunity arose in DEGW’s Singapore office, Rachel moved there for what was supposed to be a three-month stay. She enjoyed it so much she’s now working for DEGW Singapore permanently. While we were sad to Rachel go, we’re happy that she’s still a part of the team (and enjoying warm weather!).

This is the first in a series of posts from an American transplant in Singapore.

If you want one year of prosperity, grow grain. If you want 10 years of prosperity, grow trees. If you want 100 years of prosperity, grow people. (Chinese proverb)

It’s no coincidence that prosperity is flourishing in the Singapore office; the economic markets of South, South East and South West Asia are burgeoning and Singapore is set to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world. DEGW is ‘growing’ people, place and performance at an invigorating rate to service the increasing demand for our consultancy. As good feng shui would have it, I find myself at the heart of this growth as I begin 2011 living, working, exploring and blogging from Singapore.

People have always been the core of DEGW’s success and so it is with my first blog entry that I include a photo of the Singapore team of consultants, staff, and their families at the annual holiday party. This was an important event for our office as most of us are new to DEGW and haven’t met our co-workers’ significant others.
